Comment: We would like to take this opportunity to thank all concerned for all the hard work which has gone into the improvements to the harbour. The difference that the pontoons have made to how we use our boat is truly awesome. We can relax more when there is wind forecast due to the boat not scraping up and down the harbour wall, we can load and unload provisions with ease and after some light refreshments of an evening there is less chance of "me" falling off the harbour !! All the best to all and keep up the hard work. Gordon & Alix |

Comment: On my website you will find various paintings, some quite recent(2010 on Paper) based on the beach at maidens. I was briefly associated with the primary school whose pupils took photographs of the beach from which I worked back in 2005. I would like to be associated with my childhood beach/harbour and the home of my art teacher, the late Bill Lockhart. All the best! Philip Maltman PS There is also Maidens based work on Maybole Website Photogalleries. |

Comment: Fantastic to see improvements being made to the old harbour. Spent many a happy time in my formative years down and around the harbour, digging lug, fishing, swimming and using Jock Couters old punts(sometimes with his permission!)along with all my cousins and second cousins. Spending time on the ring netters and looking forward to the tide being right for coming to a home berth rather than a journey from Ayr or Girvan. New life for the joy of a new generation. |

Comment: I grew up in Maidens, attended Maidens Primary school (both the old and the new!) my parents once owned Sandy Beach Caravan Park. My late father kept 2 boats in the harbour. I have many fond memories of fishing off the harbour to walking out to the rocks as well as going out in the boat. Great to learn of the work going on with the harbour. |

Comment: Great to see the new viewing/picnic area.Looks excellent use of the old site. It's the end of an era when the old gear sheds went. Unfortunately a passing of a previous life of ring netting heritage. New era, new use of old grounds brings life back into the community. Shame the site isn't updated on a more regular basis so that those who know and love the Maidens but are far away can keep up to date with changes. |
